Vivica A. Fox once said: “Keep it Tight, Keep it Right!”
- - and that mantra fits the Lila Nikole Collection
. This collection was made to fit and express the unique personality and style of the individual. Part of the reason is the collection’s designer, Lila Nikole Rivera
, has earned and proven her skills in fashion by graduating Magna Cum Laude from The Art of Institute of Fort Lauderdale
in 2005. She was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2007 as an esteemed alumnus and is an inspiration to her former classmates, present colleagues and soon to be aspiring fashion designers. Lila inherited her desire to design and talents from her mother whom would design and sew most of her clothing. That’s a Magna Cum Laude plus in my book! Prior to her launch of her own line, Lila Nikole Swimwear, in 2009, she designed for well-known swimwear line Amaya Swimwear for which she gained phenomenal success and quickly became noticed in the fashion industry. Her company is a close-knit family that produces top quality designs using the finest materials. Each piece is hand-made not factory processed and embellished with natural jeweled pieces, wood chunks and rare gems. The Lila Nikole collection continues to impact the direction that swimwear will take in the industry. Moreover, the collection is excitingly stylish, exotic and alluring and caters to the woman who loves to spice up her beachwear with the trendy and sexy swimwear. How would you describe the overall feel of your collection?
I would describe the collection as a feel good funky pop culture type of collection. Fresh styles and silhouettes paired with bold pops of color. What was your inspiration for your spring 2010 collection?
The 2010 collection Monochromatic Shades and Pop Rox were inspired through a light show that I attended. The show had various flakes and sparks of colors. It was bold and funky. The black and white segment was also pretty memorable. I used the concept as a color palette to design the new collection. What do you think are the biggest swimwear trends for spring 2010?
I think some of the popular trends in swimwear for 2010 are the one shoulder style swim suits; bold colors and cut out swimsuits will be very popular. What era in fashion does your line remind you of?
My collection reminds me of the pop culture era, where glitz and glam were paired with funky prints and colors. Do you agree that the economic times call for minimalist designs?
I think the economy has taken a toll on all industries. I think as long as you purchase quality swimsuit that is timeless with durability in mind you can still enjoy fashion and maintain your budget. Read more here www.fashionledge.com
