The Weeknd headlined the biggest spectacle on the planet earlier this year – the 2021 Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show. The performance was filled with blockbuster hit songs and amazing video sequences. He started his 14-minute set in his signature red blazer and sunglasses, directing his robotic ensemble and singing ‘Call out My Name’. The artist continued by singing some of his biggest hits like ‘The Hills’, ‘Can’t Feel My Face’, ‘Starboy’ and ‘Blinding Lights’.

However, not a lot of people know what kind of preparations The Weeknd and his team went through to bring that spectacle to life. If you have questions about how do they prepare for such a grand event, then Showtime is set to give you all the answers.
The network is coming out with a documentary named ‘The Show’ which will tell the viewers all about The Weeknd’s halftime show. The upcoming feature documentary will provide a look into the making of this year’s Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show, starring the ‘Party Monster’ hitmaker.  Nearly 100 million people tuned in to watch the singer perform at the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida. The performance turned out to be a huge success for the musician as it helped in skyrocketing his album sales.

The 90-minute documentary, ‘The Show’, is expected to premiere later this year on Showtime. No official release date has been announced yet.

Plot

The feature documentary will look at the months of work that went into The Weeknd’s Super Bowl LV halftime performance, earlier this year. ‘The Show’ promises to show the preparations that The Weeknd and the organizers went through for the biggest spectacle of the year.

Cast

The project will feature interviews from The Weeknd and a bunch of more people who did everything to make the performance so special for the viewers.

The Weeknd

Probably one of the most popular and talented musicians of this generation, The Weeknd will be providing all the minor details of everything that happened before, during and after the performance. The singer, whose real name is Abel Makkonen Tesfaye, started his career by uploading several songs on YouTube. In 2012, he signed a contract with Republic Records and released his debut studio album ‘Kiss Land’ in 2013.

However, his moment of glory came in 2015 when his second studio album ‘Beauty Behind the Madness’ turned out to be a massive success for the singer. It was one of the best-selling albums in 2015 and two of its songs – ‘The Hills’ and ‘Can’t Feel My Face’ – claimed the numero uno position on Billboard Hot 100 chart. The album won the Best Urban Contemporary Album award and was nominated for Album of the Year at the 2016 Grammys.

The Weeknd’s third album ‘Starboy’ was also a commercial success and also won the Best Urban Contemporary Album award at the 2018 Grammys.
His latest album, ‘After Hours’, was one of the biggest-selling albums of 2020 and featured the blockbuster hit song ‘Blinding Lights’. The album received universal acclaim and remained at the no. 1 spot on Billboard 200 chart for four consecutive weeks.
